THE BOOK OF STONES

Around 1962 while studying classic, large-format black-and-white photography with John Upton and Minor White, I produced a small, hand-made book of silver-gelatin prints called The Book of Stones.

The images, all printed from 4 x 5 negatives, represent a journey from the exterior world to the realm of the internal where experiences and knowledge is gathered. The sequence then concludes with a return to the everyday world.
