Frazier History Museum, Louisville, KY
A vast history museum that has one of the world’s largest collections of toy soldiers. The day I visited was the day before the opening of a new, small wing featuring these soldiers. Fortunately, the compassionate installers let me in to photography. An amazing collection. Another amazing display was a battle between Southern troops and Northern freed slaves – bloody and terrifying. The large section on Prohibition features a manikin of Cary Nation with her hatchet and nearby a large barrel of whiskey, seemingly floating mid-air, being poured down the drain. This is balanced by a large collection of whiskey bottles of the era labeled, “For Medicinal Use.”
